senior Republican aide has apologised for her comments about President Obama’s children, in which she claimed the girls should “show a little class” after they appeared next to their father in fashionable clothing and looking slightly bored during an official address the day before Thanksgiving.
Many joked about the First Daughters’ awkward stances as they stood next to their father during the pardoning of turkeys ‘Mac’ and ‘Cheese’, while many in the room laughed at the girls' swift response of “Nah” when asked if they wanted to pet the birds.
Elizabeth Lauten, spokeswoman for Republican Congressman Stephen Fincher, instead accused Sasha, 13, and Malia, 16, of being disrespectful in a now-deleted Facebook post, and chastised the girls for their choice of clothes on the day.
Her deleted post read: “Dear Sasha and Malia: I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play.
“Then again, your mother and father don’t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter. So I’m guessing you’re coming up a little short in the ‘good role model’ department.”
She continued to berate the girls’ for their appearance, advising them to “rise to the occasion and act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar,” the BBC reported.
Ms Lauten, who has since faced sharp criticism and calls for her to resign, has apologised for her comments.
She wrote in an apology that she had spent “many hours of prayer” thinking about her comments, talking to her parents and re-reading her words online, claiming that “I can see more clearly just how hurtful my words were”.
“I’d like to apologise to all of those who I have hurt and offended with my words, and I pledge to learn and grow (and I assure you I have) from this experience.”
She said she had “judged the two young ladies in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager”.
Elikem confirmed the break-up to Showbiz last Sunday but refused to give details.
However, Showbiz has learnt that Elikem is now dating a 28-year-old fashion designer, Theresa Boateng, who came from Germany a month ago to outdoor her clothing line in Accra. Indeed Elikem and Theresa shared the, catwalk when the show opened at the Royal Richester.
Theresa herself has been very candid about her relationship with Elikem. She confirmed to Showbiz over the phone that she and Elikem were dating and she would soon return to Germany where she lives. She dropped a surprise hint that she was pregnant for Elikem.
“I am two weeks pregnant for Elikem. We fell in love the very first day I met him at the launch of my clothing line of which he was part of the models. We exchanged numbers and we started a reladonship from there.
It is barely a month since we got to know each other but anyone who has seen us together would think we have been dating for more than two years, simply because we click,” she said.
According to Theresa, Elikem is mature enough to take decisions by himself. “I don’t know why anyone should have problems with me. For some days now, family members of Elikem and friends of Pokello have been disturbing me with phone calls to stay away from Elikem but all I tell them is we are in love and no one can stop us”.
Asked whether she has spoken to Pokello, Theresa said, Pokello rather called her insuldng her to leave her boyfriend alone.
A mother of two, Theresa said Elikem is the best person to decide who he wants to be with and once Elikem has settled on her, there is nothing anyone can do to change her mind.
“If Elikem tells me he is no more interested in me, then I will understand that I am the loser and back off but for now, we are happy together.
The couple who celebrated their traditional wedding earlier this year have just welcomed their first child – a girl.
The new Okoye baby was born in the United States of America just a few hours ago.

Famous Afro-beat musician, Femi Kuti, has confirmed that he discovered through a DNA investigation that two of his children did not belong to him.
"I was 46 when I discovered that," Kuti said of the published story about the paternity of his children, which became the subject of a controversy on social media on Friday.
Reacting to the issue when contacted by SaharaReporters, Kuti disclosed that the DNA inquiry was undertaken with the consent of the mother of the children.
“I told her I cannot father children that are not mine and I gave them back to her," he disclosed.
Kuti, 52, said he was 46 when he made the discovery that two of the five children belonged to someone else.
"I now have six children that are mine," he said, proudly, adding that some of them are currently with their mother.
"I mean, I see them whenever I want to. So, they're with me."
He added that one of his legitimate children is currently in England, studying music.
The celebrated saxophonist said he could not understand why the story about the paternity of his children is being recirculated on social media. The story gained new life when it hit social media and some blogs on Friday.

It's officially the holiday season at the White House - the Christmas tree was delivered Friday.
This year's tree is an 18.5 foot Douglas Fir that comes to Washington from Crystal Spring Tree Farm in Lehighton, Pa.
The tree will go on display in the Blue Room of the White House, where Christmas trees have been displayed since 1966.
The farmer who grew the tree, Chris Botek, is no stranger to the White House. One of his trees stood in the White House in 2010, and his parents delivered a tree to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in 2006.

Kim Yo Jong, who is believed to be 26 or 27, was identified on Thursday as vice director of a department within the powerful Central Committee of her brother's government, according to a report from state news agency KCNA.
The younger sibling made her first public appearance during the funeral of her father, Kim Jong Il, in December 2011. She has since occasionally been seen accompanying her brother to political events, and although rumors had been circulating that she might have been given a managerial role in the authoritarian regime, this is the first mention of a specific post.
Her brother Kim Jong Un, 31, is the third generation in the Kim dynasty, which has ruled the secretive, impoverished state with a personality cult and an iron fist for more than 60 years.
It is not clear what Kim Yo Jong's responsibilities within the government are, but the promotion is being seen as a sign of her growing importance.
According to Yang Moo-jin, a North Korea expert at the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul, a departmental vice director is similar to a vice Cabinet minister. He added that the announcement of the role shows the government is now confident enough to introduce Kim Yo Jong as a significant part of its leadership.
Femi Kuti has revealed that two of his five children – Dupe and Tosin – are not his.
In a recent interview with Encomium, the Afrobeat singer claimed he found out after a DNA test was carried out on them and confessed to being disappointed.
“I did a DNA test and was told two of the children are not mine. The first two, a boy and a girl. It is very serious. I never knew somebody could give you what is not yours. I’ve three boys now. I can’t father children I was tricked to believe I am their father,” he lamented.
Because of the betrayal, he returned the two children, Dupe and Tosin, to their mothers.
Funke, his ex-wife, gave birth to his first child and son, Made, who Femi treasures so much. And Bisi Ajala gave birth to Ayomide and one other child that the DNA test recently proved not to be Femi’s. The third woman’s name was not revealed.

At least 10 soldiers and 35 hunters were killed in the ambush that happened around 6PM Nigerian time according eyewitnesses and military sources.
A Nigerian army source said they could not immediately comment on the level of casualty but stated they were aware of the attack and still investigating.
Mararaba is 18 kilometers from Mubi, a township recently overrun by Boko Haram sect militants.
However, a push by hunters backed by Nigerian troops forced Boko Haram to beat a retreat in the area.
Our army source said some 100 Boko Haram militants have been killed in the area between Sunday and Wednesday night in renewed operations to recover territory from the militants.

Petroleum Resources Minister, Dieziani Alison-Madueke was on Thursday elected the first female OPEC President at the 166th Ordinary Meeting of the organization in Vienna, Austria.
Before bagging this highly influential position, she made spirited efforts to become the first female Secretary-General of the organization at the recent 165th Ordinary Meeting of OPEC.
She replaces former President of OPEC, Libyan Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish.
She was before her election this morning the alternate president of OPEC and is expected to immediately begin to serve her one-year term at the helm of OPEC affairs.
OPEC is expected to at the 166th meeting, take key decisions that could halt the dwindling price of crude oil.
Al-Ahirishhad in his opening remarks before the closed door meeting stated that ample supply, moderate demand, a stronger US dollar and uncertainties about global economic growth have been key factors in the recent price trend. This, he noted, was in addition to the impact of speculative activities in the oil market.

” Governor Tinubu came and said don’t give anyone any money to be Oba, if it is yours, it will surely come and that is how I became the Oba, even though President (Olusegun) Obasanjo was against me,” the Oba said.
Mr. Obasanjo, who was also seated at the high table with the monarch, simply laughed.

Australian international cricketer Phillip Hughes has died at Sydney’s St. Vincent’s Hospital.
The 25-year-old was in critical condition after he was hit on the head by a ball while batting during an important domestic game in the city on Tuesday.
The incident sent shock waves through the cricket world and was a reminder that, despite its genteel reputation, cricket can be a highly dangerous sport.
Hughes was struck on the rear left side of the head below the helmet by a short, fast ball — known in cricketing parlance as a bouncer — delivered by New South Wales bowler Sean Abbott.
Denser and heavier than baseballs, cricket balls can reach speeds of 100 m.p.h., turning them in potentially lethal projectiles — even when players are wearing protective gear, as the example of Hughes tragically shows.
Hughes, who grew up on a banana farm outside Sydney, had undergone emergency surgery and was kept in an induced coma until passing away on Thursday afternoon, local time.
Tributes have poured in for the young star, who was the first Australian batsman ever to score a century in his debut for his national side in the one-day form of the game.

Alhaja Shonekan was arraigned alongside Martins Ogiogwa and Mujekanm Petroleum Nig. Coy. Ltd, on a five-count charge of conspiracy to obtain money by false pretences, stealing and issuance of dishonoured cheque.
Count three read: Alhaja Mulikat Shonekan, Martins Ogiowa and Mujekanm Petroleum Nigeria Coy Ltd sometime in September 2008 in Lagos, within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud, stole and fraudulently converted N65,000,000, property of Kuta Stones Ltd. entrusted to you, for the purchase of 90 acres of land located at Kemta Ososun Village, Odeda Local Government Area of Abeokuta in Ogun State of Nigeria.
According to EFCC, the offence is contrary to Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
However, when the charge was read to the defendants in English and Yoruba languages, they pleaded not guilty.
EFCC counsel, Anslem Ozioko, then urged the presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye, to remand the defendants in prison custody as required by law, till they perfect any bail granted by the court.
Ozioko told the court that Alhaja Shonekan (first defendant) was granted bail by the commission and she absconded, noting that if granted bail her presence for the trial cannot be guaranteed.
Counsel to the first defendant (Alhaja Shonekan) and third defendant (company), Bamidele Ogundele, urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal term, saying “the nature of the offence is a non-capital. There is a charge, but the charge is mere allegation until proven.”
Ogundele said Alhaja Shonekan is 77 years old and was admitted twice in EFCC clinic, adding that she was brought to EFCC in 2013.
Counsel to the second defendant, Austin Akpomreta, also urged the court to grant his client bail, noting that during the course of administration of bail granted to the defendant, he never absconded.
He said: “In fact, it was the second defendant that went to EFCC on his own. He was not arrested.
“We pray my Lord to grant him bail and also that he should be remanded in EFCC custody, pending perfection of his bail,” Akpomreta maintained.
After listening to the bail application of the defendants, the judge said: “I noticed the inability of Alhaja Shonekan to walk properly. So I rule that she should still be in EFCC custody. I have noted that the offences charged are non-capital in nature.”
Justice Ipaye granted the septuagenarian bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties, who would be blood relations and show evidence of three years tax payment.
The judge granted the second defendant bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties that would be blood relations and give N5 million bond, including showing evidence of tax payment in Lagos in the last two years, while his international document must be submitted to the Chief Registrar of the court.
Justice Ipaye ordered that the second defendant, Ogiogwa, be remanded in prison custody till perfection of his bail and adjourned to January 23, 2015, for trial.
The event is billed to hold on Friday 28th November 2014, at the national stadium Surulere Lagos from 8am to 4pm.

Tears and emotions flowed freely in the BBA Hotshots house as some housemates received visitors from their countries.
JJ's dad just visited with the most beautiful encouragement, and praise for JJ, telling him that even he is amazed at his incredible talent he didn't even know he had. He also wished all the housemates luck.
He was very emotional after he left and walked into the house to calm down.
Next up is Sheillah's sister and Sheillah can't contain herself and starts crying at the sight of her, so her sister just tells her to keep going and stay strong. They all love and support her.

Halle Berry has taken ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry to court for allegedly trying to change the appearance of their daughter to make her look white.
She claims that Aubry straightened six-year-old Nahla’s curly hair and lightened it in a bid to make her look less African-American.
Court documents accuse Aubry of inflicting “potential psychological and physical damage” to their daughter and could cause her to wonder “why her natural appearance is not good enough”.
“I want both Gabriel and I to make decisions together that affect our daughter, her growth, her development and her general welfare,” said Berry in the documents.
“I continue to hope that Gabriel and I can find a way to work together to be successful co-parents. It was with regret that I concluded that I had to seek the court's intervention on these issues, but until Gabriel recognises the meaning of joint legal custody and how it is implemented, it appears that the court will be my only resort to safeguard Nahla's best interests.”
The court appearance on Monday was attended by Berry’s lawyer, Steve Kolodny, and also Aubry. A judge ruled that neither parents could change Nahla’s look from its natural state.
The couple split in 2010 after four years together.
The actress told Ebony magazine in 2011 that she “feels like” her daughter is black, although she wants her child to make her own mind about how she perceives herself.
“I'm not going to put a label on it,” she said. “I had to decide for myself, and that's what she's going to have to decide - how she identifies herself in the world. And I think, largely, that will be based on how the world identifies her. That's how I identified myself.
“But I feel like she's black. I'm black and I'm her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory.”
Berry is also seeking to decrease the child support she gives to Aubry, from $16,000 to $3,800 per month, claiming that the model uses the money to finance his personal fitness, clothing, electronics, car and health insurance.
The actress married French actor Olivier Martinez in July 2013. She gave birth to their son, Maceo, in October last year.
