King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, the powerful U.S. ally who joined Washington's fight against Al Qaeda and sought to modernize the ultraconservative Muslim kingdom has died at 90, according to Saudi state TV.


The King of Saudi Arabia was Born 1 Aug 1924 & died 23 Jan 2015, aged 90.

In 2013, Abdullah was ranked 8th most powerful person globally according to forbes.

He gave women the right to vote & compete in the Olympics.

He has 4 wives, 7 sons & 15 daughters.

He had a $18 billion fortune and is the 3rd wealthiest head of state in the world.

His successor is his 79-year-old half-brother, Prince Salman, who recently has taken on the ailing Abdullah's responsibilities

Elections Drama, President Jonathan visits Emir Sanusi seeks his Support for Re-election.

Hehehe, the action film has started o,while in Kano State yesterday, for his presidential campaign, President Goodluck Jonathan visited sacked CBN governor who is now the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi 11, in his palace seeking his blessings in his re-election bid.

Jonathan congratulated Sanusi on his installation and condoled with him and the people of the emirate on Bayero’s demise. He told the monarch  he was in his palace to formally introduce himself, Vice President Namadi Sambo and other PDP candidates in the election.

“I am here to seek your royal blessing and to reassure the people of Kano that the PDP is totally committed to developing  the country,” the president said while addressing the monarch.

Married teacher who had five-year affair with pupil and fathered her child jailed.

A teacher who had an affair with a teenage girl pupil harbouring a crush on him has been jailed for one year after he fathered her child. Married dad-of-two Simon Parsons, aged 52, showed no emotion as he was led to the cells dressed all in black.

Minutes before appearing in front of the judge the disgraced drama teacher sat calmly outside Court Two reading The Guardian. 

He came prepared for jail with his personal possessions in a rucksack and a large black plastic bag beside his seat.

The court heard how Parsons began a five-year affair with the victim by taking her on a theatre trip to London shortly after her 17th birthday. They stayed overnight in a hotel and had sexual intercourse in their room

Sex Work!!! Prostitute Murdered In Victoria Island Car Park.

Some unidentified people on Monday stabbed a sex worker to death in a car park on Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The deceased, identified simply as Joy, was discovered in a pool of blood with stab wounds at about 5.30am.

According to Punch News, 25-year-old Joy who’s from Delta state, was a commercial sex worker who had two kids – a girl and a boy.

Joy, who had sent her daughter to stay with a relative in Port Harcourt, went to the park with her three-year-old boy on Sunday night when she was believed to have been stabbed to death.

The car park, is commonly used by employees of commercial banks and other organisations on the street.

A resident, Mr. Afeez Ibrahim, told Punch News that although Joy was a sex worker, most people on the street liked her and had assisted her in the past so that she could leave the job.

Ibrahim said he suspected that Joy’s killers might have had an intention to rob her, but might have killed her after she resisted them.

He said, “Joy is a well known woman on this street. We all liked her except for the work she did. She called herself a street hustler who needed to take care of her children. She is Urhobo. On Sunday evening, she was still seen around the car park.

“We were shocked when we woke on Monday morning to find her corpse with knife injuries. Her attackers stabbed her twice on the back. She was found in a pool of blood.”

A worker in the area also commented saying that Idowu Taylor Street and neighbouring Adeyemo Alakija Street were a hub of commercial sex workers.

The worker added that Joy’s little boy, identified simply as Emmanuel, said he saw some men in black around his mother.

He said, “The police have tried to stop the commercial sex workers by raiding the streets a number of times. But when they raid, they later release them. When you come in the evening, you will see the ladies hanging around the parks.

“The boy is just about three years old. He was sleeping some metres away from his mother. When the people tried to find out what happened from the boy, he simply said he saw some men in black around his mother. I feel the boy was actually asleep and might not have seen the assailants clearly enough.”

Hospital nurse 'murdered 3 patients and poisoned 18 others using insulin.

A hospital nurse murdered three patients and poisoned 18 others by contaminating saline bags and ampoules with insulin, a court heard.

Victorino Chua, 49, also deliberately altered the dosages on prescription charts while working as a staff nurse at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport, Manchester Crown Court heard.

In all 21 patients suffered as a result of his "handiwork" with three of them murdered, Tracey Arden, 44, Arnold Lancaster, 71, and Derek Weaver, 83, jurors were told.

Chua, a Filipino who first came to the UK in 2002 and had worked at Stepping Hill since 2009, sat in the dock listening impassively as Peter Wright QC, began outlining the prosecution case against him.

Chua has pleaded not guilty to 36 charges in all, including the three alleged murders, one count of grievous bodily harm with intent, 23 counts of attempted grievous bodily harm, eight counts of attempting to cause a poison to be administered and one count of administering a poison.

ISIS threatens to kill two Japanese hostages, places $200 million price tag.

A black-clad militant pointed a knife at the heads of two Japanese hostages and demanded $200 million in reparations within 72 hours, a hefty penalty for Japan's financial support of the fight against Islamic State, "otherwise this knife will become your nightmare."

The ultimatum, released Monday in a chilling video, shows two men on their knees in the desert wearing orange jumpsuits who are identified as Kenji Goto Jogo and Haruna Yukawa.

"You have proudly donated $100 million to kill our women and children, to destroy the homes of the Muslims," the militant said to the camera in English and waving a knife for good measure. "So the life of this Japanese citizen will cost you $100 million."

The video, identified as being made by the Islamic State group's al-Furqan media arm and posted on militant websites associated with the extremist group, mirrored other hostage threats made the group.

Boko Haram 'Abducts' 50 Children In Cameroon.

Suspected Boko Haram fighters have abducted up to 80 people, many of them children, in a deadly assault on villages in northern Cameroon, officials say.

"According to our initial information, around 30 adults, most of them herders, and 50 young girls and boys aged between 10 and 15 years were abducted," a senior army officer deployed to northern Cameroon told news agency Reuters.

That would make it Boko Haram's largest abduction in Cameroon to date.

Federal Govt. Slashes Fuel Pump Price By N10 • Petrol Price Now N87.

The Federal Government last night announced a reduction in the price of premium motor spirit (petrol)from N97 to N87 per litre.

The reduction follows the crash in the price of crude oil in the international market.

The Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke, made the announcement on the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, last night. She spoke from the presidential villa apparently after consultations with President Goodluck Jonathan.

She said: “I will like to announce the reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit by N10. Therefore, the reduction would be from N97 per litre to N87 per litre and this would be effective from midnight Sunday, January 18, 2015. In line with this I have directed the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, and the Directorate of Petroleum Resources to ensure that there is strict adherence of this regime as it takes effect from midnight Sunday, January 18. I do hope that the entire country will benefit immensely from this reduction of the pump price.”

Convicted Nigerian Citizen Drug Smuggler To Be Executed in Indonesia On Sunday.

A convicted Nigerian drug trafficker is among six drug offenders to be executed in Indonesia on Sunday. The Nigerian,38 year-old Daniel Enemuo, alias Diarrssouba was convicted in 2004.

Indonesian authorities announced the execution today. It will be the first execution under new President Joko Widodo.

The planned executions were announced by the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office.

Widodo, who took office in late October, signed off on the executions last month. He pledged no clemency for drug offenders, despite pleas from the European Union, the Brazilian government and Amnesty International.

The five foreigners due to be executed are from Nigeria, Malawi, Vietnam, the Netherlands and Brazil.
